Main girdle - worth it?
Do they actually work? Pros and cons?
Seen one for cheap and was wondering if it's worth it.
Plus I've always wondered if they help out when you spin the engine a little higher
Yeah, it's gotta hitch- 93 notch

They'll hold shit together when your block splits in two.

Yep. Thankfully that never happened to me. I put far more than I should have to my stock block with a girdle. I don't know if it actually helped, but knowing what that block endured, I'd never build another without one.

Don't forget the cost of main studs and to have the block align honed if your gonna do it right. Personally, I think its a waste. Between the heads, intake and the oil pan all being bolted to the "now" split block......it'll all stay put. Just my $.02

I dont know what you mean by "cheap" but dont go with a no name one. They fit like complete shit and need machining.
In theory I beleive they work but I also pulled some with 350HP on tap and they still split with one. It still ran though and kept it together.
The valley girdle is a joke 4 8MM bolts and a bar. I was a sucker and bought into that dream. Good luck
